Raiford is the site of Union Correctional Institution and the famous Florida State Prison sits just across the county line in Bradford County. Both prisons house death row inmates but those deeds are done only at Florida State Prison. Raiford is a town were virtually everyone's life is intertwined with the workings of the Florida Department of Corrections in one way or another. The Florida training facilities for Correctional Officers are also next to the Correctional Institution.
