Highlands County is located in south-central Florida. Officially created on April 23, 1921, Highlands County now contains 1,028 square miles of land area and 78 square miles of water surface. The county seat is Sebring.

The Archbold Biological Station and part of Lake Wales Ridge National Wildlife Refuge is in Highlands County. At the old Sebring military airport is where you'll find the Sebring International Raceway.
