Marco Island Esplanade
Artifacts have been found in the Marco island area that point to native inhabitation as far back as 1500 years ago. Modern development began in the late 1800's but didn't really take off until the 1960's when the Mackle Brothers of the Deltona Corporation purchased a large chunk of land and began turning the place into the tourist destination it is now.
