Parkland was originally an equestrian community
Parkland was incorporated in July, 1963 to protect the park-like feel of the affluent area. Until the early 2000's, there were no traffic lights and no stores in the city. Since then, housing developments have sprung up and now there are problems between the newcomers in their tiny acreages and the equestrian set on their hobby farms.
The population of Parkland has almost doubled since 2000.
