Pinellas County is located in western Florida along the Gulf Coast (west side of Tampa Bay). Pinellas County was officially formed on May 23, 1911 and contains 280 square miles of land area and 328 square miles of water surface. The county seat is Clearwater.
Pinellas County contains the Pinellas National Wildlife Refuge. Pinellas County is also crossed north/south by US Highway 19 and northeast/south by Interstate 275.
